Mr. Carlos García is currently the Head of International Relations at the Spanish Space Agency (AEE), working within the Director’s Cabinet providing support also in areas such as national and international space regulation and exploration activities.
He holds a Master of Science and an Engineer’s Degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University (USA). At Stanford he worked at the Satellite Systems Development Laboratory, where he worked in the microsatellites that were the precursors to the Cubesat standard. While at Stanford he also worked on projects for NASA and JPL.
In industry he has worked as a systems engineer at Spectrum Astro (now Northrop-Grumman) and Airbus Defense and Space, participating in several successful missions such as SWIFT, RHESSI and SMOS.
He has managed space programs at the Spanish Government since 2007, holding several posts and representing Spain at ESA, EU, UN and other international bodies and fora. He has managed the Spanish contribution to the NASA rovers Curiosity and Perseverance, and has led the development of the Spanish SST system and its integration in the European system EUSST. He has represented Spain in different areas, such as Exploration, Technology, International Relations and Space Situational Awareness.
He is currently in charge of bilateral collaboration programs with other agencies and representing Spain in international fora and events.
