Dr. Ali Amur Al Shidhani became the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology. During 2019, he worked as the Group VP of Technology at ASYAD Group. His role was to develop and steer technology and innovation strategy for ASYAD Group. Between November 2014 and January 2019, he Worked as the Director of the Research Centers department and Acting Director of the Institute of Advanced Technology Integration, as well as the Director of the Communications and Information Sector at the Research Council of Oman. Prior to that, he was a visiting researcher at City University London where he researched the topic of information security in future cities. Since October 2001 to October 2014, he was a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University. He published several scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences in addition to a book chapter. He also evaluated several master's and doctoral theses and supervised several graduation projects for bachelor's and master's students, and contributed to the launch of many initiatives,: including: the program for transferring graduation projects to emerging startups (www.upgrade.om) and the smart cities platform (www.smartoman.org) The EJaad platform for joint research between the industrial sector and the academic sector (www.ejaad.om) and the national network for technology transfer in the Sultanate of Oman. He is also a member of several national ICT committees and has delivered numerous presentations in ICT in national and international conferences and forums. In 2010, he received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Canada. In 2003, he received his Masters of IT in Data Communications from Queensland University of Technology, Australia. In 2001, he received his BCs. Eng. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University.
